“Come what may.”
Whether you’re in a transitional phase of life, or just taking note of the transitional feeling in the air as summer gives way to Autumn, have courage, friend. Look forward and step through the doorway. If you must linger in the threshold, may you linger only a moment to sit with gratitude for what you leave behind and how far you’ve come.
My longest loved best friend and I took my daughter for a girl’s day yesterday. We have this nearly 20 year old tradition and ritual for the closing of old doors and the celebration of walking through new ones. We didn’t know it was that deep when we started it at 16 and 17 years of age, but that’s what it is. This time, we rallied to share the experience with my teen daughter, who’s going through similar life circumstances that we were when we began it.

It’s such a silly thing for a couple of girls to do, but it’s quality time, it’s support, and it’s solidarity – and it always includes Moulin Rouge. The phrase, “Come what may,” seems so perfect for the liminal space between one thing and the next, for knowing it’s time to move forward, whether you like it or not.
Come what may, you’re ready.
Come what may, you can do it.
Come what may, it’s going to be okay.
And come what may, we’ve got each other.
Trust. Trust the unfolding of your life and trust yourself. The seasons may change, but you are loved in every one of them, and this one will give way to the next. Be willing to move forward- step into the future, embrace the changes, and create the life you want to live.
