I see you, Diet Culture. You’re not fooling anyone. 😒🙄

“Wellness” Culture is often just a prettier way of saying “Diet Culture.” Which is annoying, as someone who is technically a part of the wellness community.
Be mindful of your wellness influences and resources. Anyone perpetuating the lie that weight loss is the gateway to wellness isn’t trustworthy. Unsubscribe, unfollow, buh-bye 👋🏻
The key to wellness is… wellness. What makes you feel well? What makes your heart, mind, body, spirit feel WELL?!
That’s your wellness.
Sometimes, weight loss is a part of that – lets be honest. Sometimes it’s a natural consequence of pursuing personal wellness. Wellness itself might cause your weight to fluctuate or change, but losing weight doesn’t equal or bring upon wellness.
One of my favorite resources on this is definitely the book, The Fuck It Diet by Caroline Dooner. She does a deep dive into the ridiculousness that is diet culture, but also, explains so much about the science of food, eating, and the body. Five stars ⭐️ 10/10 would recommend if you’re interested, struggling with diet fads (hi, it me! 🙋🏼♀️) and/or shameful pressure to lose weight.
