One of my favorite icons of all time is, hands down, Prince.
The man was and still is one of the single greatest musicians of all time. His abilities and creativity knew no bounds, and he’s inspired countless artists around the world.
When I was putting together a playlist for a class I teach on Thursday nights, I decided to occasionally have a throwback playlist, featuring an artists popular music from a previous decade. Each Thursday, I select a new artist for us to flow to, so for my first #ThrowbackThursday, it was a no brainer for me: it would have to be Prince.
To continue honoring this musical legend as we approach the third anniversary of his passing on April 21st, I wanted to share my playlist with you, maybe for inspiration for your own Prince-themed or throwback playlist!

Purple Rain
*I placed an asterisk next to every title labeled “E” for explicit on Apple Music. I’m sure there are censored version or radio edits out there, but it wasn’t important for my particular class that the language be toned down. I just wanted to offer the heads up!
Also, since Purple Rain is about an 8 1/2 minute song, it leaves a nice long while for savasana at the end of class. My students were able to enjoy about 5 solid minutes of uninterrupted savasana (meaning, after I went around and gave forehead massages), and there was still plenty of song left over to queue them back to seated. These are things that bring me such joy that I can’t keep them to myself! Ha!
Prince was awesome, guys. If you needed any more convincing that the guy is a great musical theme for a yoga class, just take a look at his middle splits, okay?
In heels, no less.
Just the coolest.
Anyway, have fun getting crazy. Don’t let that elevator bring you down. 😉
